Funeral Grants & Financial Assistance
Please let us know if you need help paying for a funeral. You may be eligible for a funeral grant from ACC or WINZ. If your loved one was a military veteran you may also be able to apply for a contribution towards funeral expenses from Veterans' Affairs.
Paying if estate is in probate
When someone dies, their bank accounts will be frozen. In some cases, they may not be accessed until Probate is granted. You may wish to plan for this by transferring bank accounts into joint names before they die.
If settlement of their estate is delayed by lack of Probate, please discuss this with us. You may be able to pay your funeral account by the due date and recover funds from their estate when it is settled. Please let us know if you'd like a copy of our invoice sent to your solicitor.
